CONTEXT OF THE PROBLEM

Nowadays, the mining sector is continually criticized by some civil organizations, which indicate that there is an improper use water for operations; thus, causing a series of conflicts in the communities. That is why the SNMPE carried out a Consultancy between 2019 and 2020 to verify the measurement systems installed at the water discharge and intake points. According to this study, it was obtained that 75% of companies use automatic equipment, 14% manual systems and 11% do not have equipment installed at the point, but rather carry out specific measurements with mobile equipment whenever it is required. The latter does not provide precision or ensure an adequate control of water consumption according to the permits that are counted for its intake. There are approximately 41 points that do not have measurement according to what has been identified in the consultancy.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM

The problem to be solved is the lack of measurement in these approximate 41 points that the MUs mention not placing any fixed instrument at the point mainly due to remoteness, connectivity and security problems. The 41 points correspond to approximately 09 mining companies for solving observations regarding the measurement of intake and / or discharge points.

FREQUENCY OF THE PROBLEM

The frequency is continuous and the measurement is carried out permanently in the units, monthly and quarterly reports to the ANA.

PARTIAL SOLUTIONS

The temporary solution that a company has considered is to install a level sensor to complement manual measurement systems and can have greater efficiency in the measurement of water flow.

IMPACT OF THE PROBLEM

Se quiere resolver el problema para mejorar la eficiencia de medición del agua que se usa y vierte, usando equipos confiables. La meta de la SNMPE es que se pueda tener un reporte en línea de todas las empresas mineras en su consumo y vertimiento de agua (cantidad m3), para ello será necesario que todas las UM cuentan con sistemas confiables de medición y automáticos.

Así mismo ayudaría a mejorar la percepción de las comunidades sobre el uso del agua de la minería, así como reducir las horas/hombre que las empresas usar para destinar a un personal en trasladar se los puntos lejanos de medición, disminuyendo también los riesgos en seguridad en cuento a exposición del personal.

Las áreas afectadas son Medio ambiente, HSE, planta de tratamiento de aguas.
